  2. Using NCSA Telnet with MacTCP, users can run
  3. programs that generate 2D output (either single
  4. files or a series of animation images) on a remote
  5. host (eg, a Cray) and route the output back to 
  6. DataScope on the Macintosh for viewing and
  7. additional operations.  In addition, subroutines
  8. residing on the remote host can be used to process
  9. DataScope datasets on the Macintosh via the
  10. DataScope notebook.  Refer to the manual for
  11. details of the mechanics of this operation.

  13. DataScope's welcoming dialog informs the user
  14. as to whether the networking functionality
  15. can be used:  if so, the message reads "Network
  16. Enabled"; if, for any reason, the networking
  17. capability will not work, the message reads
  18. "Network Disabled".

  20. If the network is disabled, DataScope's other
  21. features work as they should:  the user simply
  22. cannot use the networking capabilities of the
  23. program.
